CINCINNATI (WKRC) – Super Bowl Sunday is estimated to be the second biggest eating day of the year, only behind Thanksgiving.
Among the top foods that are regularly featured at parties for the big game include winds, chili, ribs, pizza, dips, and chips.
Here are a few of the top landmines when it comes to eating at your party and how you can work around them for a healthier gameday:
1) Alcohol – the more of it you drink, the less likely you are to be able to make healthy food choices. Cleveland Clinic nutritionists say studies show you stop caring about what and how much you eat.
2) Quantity – a few pieces of pizza and a dozen wings can five you two days worth of recommended fat. Pacing and eating a few sides as veggies can help bring down the day’s calories and fat.
3) Dipping – veggies over chips are ideal for dipping and salsa or guacamole are healthier choices than sour cream dips.
