One of the most important things that any human being can do is take care of him- or herself and stay as healthy as possible. I have personally seen that dental assistants (and really all dental professionals) spend so much time caring for others that they often neglect their own health and well-being. This can ultimately lead to a shorter career or burnout.
As part of the Dental Assistant Nation podcast series, powered by IgniteDA, I recently had the chance to sit down with Dr. Uche Odiatu to talk about ways that dental assistants can keep themselves healthier both physically and mentally. Dr. Uche is not only a dentist in Toronto but also a certified personal trainer and best-selling wellness author of the books Fit for the LOVE of It and The Miracle of Health.
Additionally, Dr. Uche is one of the most popular speakers in the dental industry today. I’ve seen him present in-person numerous times around the country, and his programs not only give attendees plenty to think about but also contain a lot of passion and great advice. If you ever get the chance to see him take the stage, I highly recommend it.
We were recently speaking at the New Mexico Dental Association’s annual meeting together and then flying from Albuquerque to Kansas City for another meeting. While on the flight, I asked Dr. Uche if he would be willing to share some of his best advice and secrets with our Dental Assistant Nation podcast audience. I was thrilled when he accepted the invitation.
